A reflection on Huawei Australia's proud partnership with Tour De Cure.
Huawei Australia has been a proud partner of Tour De Cure since 2011.  Now in our 7th Year we thought it worthwhile reflecting on the significant contribution Huawei has made.

Who are Tour de Cure and why is Huawei associated with them? Watch this video from 2014.

Sadly, we all know someone who has been affected by the devastation caused by cancer.  It doesn’t discriminate and touches far too many of our friends, family and communities in which we live. Tour de Cure’s work in creating awareness and raising funds for cancer research, support and prevention projects for men, women and children is making a difference. With the ongoing support of individuals, families, communities and corporate partners such as Huawei Tour de Cure has been able to fund 322 cancer projects, resulting in 24 significant cancer breakthroughs in research and care.

Huawei was first introduced to Tour de Cure by Huawei customer Optus in 2011, since then Huawei has engaged in and supported a number of fundraising and awareness activities predominately centered around cycling. During this time over $400K  has been directly contributed by Huawei, five Huawei staff have been on the road representing Huawei, personally and collectively fundraising over $100,000 for the cause and dozens more have volunteered their time to help pack information kits distributed to school children throughout each tour. In addition to Huawei staff, more than 30 individuals have worn the Huawei kit and rode thousands of kilometers throughout Australia proudly representing Huawei.

2017 saw Huawei deviate from the status quo supporting the inaugural Spring Lunch. The event held at the Hyatt Regency Sydney was hosted by Tour de Cure ambassador and Channel 7 Sports Reporter Mark Beretta. The activity raised over $450,000. In 2018, Huawei again got behind the Tour de Cure Spring Lunch this time raising over $800k.

Internationally, Huawei has received recognition for its “dedication to community service and corporate social responsibility” by winning a Communitas Award for Excellence in Community Service and believe that through this long term local partnership our contribution has been significant creating great value to the Australian Community.

Mark Beretta, Beretta wanted to personally thank Huawei for its contribution and has prepared this message.
